Aravind Srinivas reposted an official demo, saying personalized healthcare “will be disrupted big time” by what agents can do today (opinion). In it, Computer reads one anonymized shoulder radiology report, places all nine findings on a skeletal model with six X-ray projections, and explains each in plain language. It is a vendor demo with no stated accuracy evaluation, clinical review or privacy handling, and is not a diagnostic tool.

  2. Google launches an AI certificate for healthcare professionals: under 5 hours, up to 5 CME credits

Standardized, credit-bearing AI training for clinicians.

Google Chief Health Officer Michael Howell announced the Google AI for Healthcare Professionals Certificate on the official blog (Oct 29): self-paced, designed to take under five hours, with up to 5.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits. It was built by Google clinicians from internal medicine, pediatrics, critical care, emergency medicine and public health, drawing on draft AAMC AI competencies, across four courses: evaluating AI output, patient communication materials, non-clinical admin like scheduling and email, and digesting studies and exam prep. NYU Grossman, UAB, Touro and Purdue's School of Nursing are offering it. It focuses on non-clinical tasks, not diagnosis.

  3. AMA proposes a clinical-AI liability framework: developers, hospitals and clinicians share by what each can know, control and prevent

Who's liable when clinical AI errs is a core procurement and contract term.

The AMA released a proposed clinical-AI liability framework in October, arguing liability should match what each party can reasonably know, control and prevent. Developers answer for product safety and effectiveness and risks within their control; hospitals and other deployers for selecting, implementing, monitoring and real-world use; clinicians only for the clinical judgment they can meaningfully exercise. The AMA release adds that liability may be shared but obligations aren't interchangeable, and physicians shouldn't be penalized for declining unvalidated AI. It's a proposal, not a change in law.

  4. Flagship merges Cellarity, Etiome and Empress into AI drug-discovery company Etcelera; foundation model trained on 150M cells

AI drug discovery consolidating platforms — the test is clinical success rates.

Flagship Pioneering announced on Oct 29 that it merged the platforms of Cellarity, Etiome and Empress Therapeutics into Etcelera, focused on “causal intelligence” — identifying what truly drives disease and predicting how a medicine will act in patients before the clinic. The release cites 20+ years of data, a foundation model trained on data from 150 million cells (which it calls the industry's largest) and 30+ AI prediction models. Launch programs span hematology (myelofibrosis, essential thrombocythemia), metabolism (including partnered MASH work) and immunology. Cellarity's sickle-cell drug CLY-124 stays in a separate company; reports say no new funding was announced.

Per a Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC-CNS) announcement on Oct 29, AstraZeneca's Barcelona hub will work with BSC researchers with access to infrastructure including MareNostrum 5. Potential projects include rare-disease modeling, clinical-trial site selection and patient recruitment, focused on oncology, cardiovascular and respiratory conditions. It's a collaboration framework; specific projects, investment and measurable results aren't public yet.
